Q716. OCI card issued after age 50 - No need to renew OCI again

Question: Hi My dad is currently 59 and planning to travel to India at the end of this month. He has a OCI on a old Passport and has currently obtained a new British Passport. Is he required to get a new OCI card or can he travel with both Passports. Thanks Gita Chhanya Answer: Whether your Dad needs to get fresh OCI documents depends on when he got his current OCI Visa. If he got his OCI after reaching age 50, then he does not have to get new documents and can travel to India taking along with him his passport that has the original OCI stamp, the OCI booklet and his new valid British passport. All three documents will be required. If OCI visa issued after age 50 New OCI is not required Many people have OCI renewal questions and are confused on this topic and questions in this regard have been answered and posted on this website many times. In an effort to clarify and perhaps alleviate tensions of those who got their OCI visas after age 50 and are wondering if they need to get their OCI renewed when their passport expires. I am attaching a webpage image of the High Commission of India page that shows the rules explicitly.
