Q731. NRI Driving in India with UK license and IDP . . .
Question: Hello,
I am an Indian citizen holding an Indian passport currently living in the UK for the last 4 years. I have a UK driving licence with
International Driving Permit. I would be visiting India for a couple of weeks next month, can I use my UK licence along with the
IDP to drive in India? Note that I am an Indian citizen with Indian passport.
Thanks & Regards,
Akshay.
Answer: Your status is that of a NRI, if you visit India and take your valid UK driving license along with IDP, you should be able
to drive in India since you will be visiting India for a short duration.
Passport is not required to drive, you only need your UK driving license and IDP.
