Q.927 Get Exit Visa for baby born in India & parent is foreign citizen

Question: Hi, My daughter is married to a dutch. national She is an Indian passport holder. She has had her baby here in India, who is now holding a dutch passport. Can you please let me know what are the documents required for the baby to get an exit visa to leave India. We live in mumbai and need this urgently Thank you Sincerely, Indu Rao Answer: The Foreigner Regional Registration Offices (FRRO) normally issue visas. Exit visas or visa extensions that are done at FRRO offices are for people who have entered the country with a valid visa. The task of issuing entry visas is done by Indian Consulates abroad and FRRO offices are not authorized to issue such entry visas. Where a child is born in India to foreign parents the procedure involves: Get birth certificate from hospital Apply for foreign passport at the concerned Embassy/Consulate in India However to issue the first visa for a new born child, FRRO offices need authorization from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Since your baby already has a Dutch passport you need to contact the Ministry of Home Affairs, Foreign Division, Jaisalmer House, 26, Man Singh Road New Delhi. Generally the ministry requires: Filled application form, Copies of passports of parents and New born child Birth certificate of child After submission and approval of required documents a sealed envelope is given to the parents to take to the FRRO office in their area. This envelope has the authorization letter from the ministry to the FRRO to issue a new visa. You would be required to pay the applicable visa fee also at the FRRO office. Since you are in Mumbai I would suggest you contact the FRRO office in Mumbai and follow instructions they give to secure exit visa.
