How to apply for USA Tourist Visa
from India . . .
All visitors from India to the United States require a
tourist visa. As of September 26, 2012, US Visa
applicants in India can schedule appointments by
telephone or online from the comfort of their home
computers. Visa applicants are now required to
make two appointments*.
1.
To submit their fingerprints and photo prior
to their interview date
2.
The second appointment is at the embassy
for a visa interview with a consular official
Those who apply for U.S.
visas in India are now
required to appear in
person for an appointment
at an Offsite Facilitation
Center (OFC). This is
where their fingerprints
are taken and a photo
submitted.
Once the fingerprinting
appointment has been done, applicants in India
must go through a visa interview at the U.S.
Embassy or Consulate.
Applicants OFC appointment should be at least one
day before the interview appointment date.
When applying for U.S. visas from India, applicants
can schedule both appointments, either online

Steps to Apply for a US Tourist Visa
from India
1.
Pay the fee of $160/- visa application fee
which is payable in Indian Rupees and can be
paid in cash at any Citi or Axis Bank branch in
India or by EFT
2.
Complete the Online Non immigrant Visa
Application (This is called DS-160)
3.
Schedule your fingerprint appointment at any
Off-site Facilitation Center
4.
Schedule your visa appointment at the US
Embassy or Consulate. (Both appointments
can be made at the same time)
5.
Schedule your visa appointment at the US
Embassy or Consulate.
6.
After your fingerprint appointment is
complete. Visit the U.S. Embassy on your
scheduled date for your visa interview.
How to submit additional
documents to U.S. Embassy in India
In some cases applicants may be asked to submit
additional documentation for further processing of
their visa application. There are several drop of
offices located throughout India where such
documentation can be dropped off and these
offices will send them to the U.S. Embassy.
Document drop-off places are called Team Stanley
