Q.1282 Transfer of OCI to new UK Passport

Question: Greetings! I am a UK citizen and OCI holder. My UK passport, stamped with OCI U Visa, has recently expired and I have now a new UK passport. I do, however, have the OCI booklet; do I in that case require my new UK passport to be stamped with the U-visa as before? If so, how do I get that done? What do I need to do to transfer my OCI visa to the new passport? Please advise soonest. Thank you ever so much. Answer: There is no mandatory requirement now to get OCI U Visa transferred to a new passport obtained by an individual when their passport expires. In fact pasting OCI visa on passports has been stopped by the government of India. Now U Visa is no longer pasted on passports when new OCI applications are approved. The OCI booklet is proof of OCI status. OCI holders can simply carry their OCI booklet as proof of their OCI status.
