Question: Dear sir,
I am US citizen . My daughter is minor this time .She has U.S. Passport. She studying in Delhi.. I want to apply her OCI card
in Delhi. I live in U.S. Please tell me how I apply her OCI Card and what is the fee of this.
Thanks.
Surendra.
Answer: I would assume your child has a valid visa that allows the child to attend school in India. Those in India on
a tourist visa are not supposed to enroll in schools as this can lead to potential problems. I mention this only for the
benefit of other readers who may visit this page.
Regarding your question:
For those applicants who are already in India and apply for OCI from within India. A copy of the type of visa they are
using to be in India will be required by the authorities to process their OCI application.
The applicants visa should also have a minimum validity of three months from the date of submission of their OCI
application.
My understanding is that either of the parents can submit the OCI application on behalf of their minor children.
The fee for OCI applications made in India is currently Rupees 15,000/-
The procedure of applying for OCI in India is already posted on this website in an article titled ‘How & where to apply
