Because I tried contacting n sending emails to quite a few links n people, but nobody has answered. I'm planning to travel to India in November and would like to deal with this ASAP. THANK YOU Yasmeen waqhar Sent from my iPad Answer: Perhaps you may not have to re-apply for OCI right away! For an applicant who is 50 years of age or older, OCI documents must be re-issued once after the issuance of a new passport. I doubt if applicants need to rush to get fresh OCI documents as soon as they reach age 50. I believe they must do so when their passport expires after reaching age 50. If after reaching age 50 your passport expired and you have a new passport, then you must apply for re-issue of OCI.

How to renew OCI documents

My understanding is that OCI registration certificate and visa re-issue is done by applying online through OCI Miscellaneous Services. To access the application visit: https://passport.gov.in/oci/ Select ‘Click Here to Proceed’ to go to the next page Select OCI Miscellaneous Services and then follow the instructions as displayed on the screen Before you can access the on-line application form you will have to: 1. Fill in at least ONE of the following fields that apply to you: o U-Visa number o OCI Registration number o OCI File number (2) Thereafter, applicants have to fill in ALL of the following fields: o Passport number (As shown in original OCI Card) o Date of birth o Place of birth o Mother’s name If the information entered is correct and matches the official OCI database then access is provided to the application form and applicants can proceed to select the service required and fill the appropriate fields of information. After submission of the online form a hard copy of the application is generated with a reference number and instructions on how to fill the application form. Finally a signed printed copy of the application with a photograph pasted needs to be sent to the Indian Consulate that serves the applicants jurisdiction. In case applicant is in India then application is sent to Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) The fee currently is around US$ 28/- or equivalent in local currency for this service and where a outsourcing company is involved there will probably be a small additional service charge (currently $12 in USA)
